Alex is originally from Viroqua, WI and attended college at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Alex missed Wisconsin and moved back after college to be closer to her family. She has spent 16 years working in the restaurant industry. “I started working in restaurants in Wisconsin Dells during the summers to save money for college. After college, when I moved to Madison, my brother who has always been in the Madison food scene got me into it again. My love for the fast pace lifestyle, interactions with all kinds of people, and passion for great food and drink have kept me in the industry.” Alex’s first restaurant job was as a hostess at Pedro’s in Wisconsin Dells. She would later work in fine dining a few miles down the road at Fields of the Wilderness. When she moved to Madison she spent more than eight years serving and managing at Sushi Muramoto. After that, Alex worked at The Edgewater hotel where she was the Assistant General Manager of The Statehouse for almost three years. “I love meeting new people, creating connections, and making them happy! After that comes my passion for different cultures, food, and drink. I love that every day is different, and also the fast-paced exciting environment of working in a restaurant. Restaurant people come from all walks of life, but they all carry the same love and passion for people, food, and culture. They are hardworking and dedicated people. I’ve found that we all have something to bring to the table, and there is always something to learn from each other.” Alex is an outdoors person, When she isn’t busy working she enjoys hiking, camping, sailing and kayaking.
